Explore the Blessed Virgin Mary in Scripture, tradition, and devotion with one of the world’s leading experts as your personal guide and teacher.

In 14 illuminating lectures, Fr. Bert Buby, SM, will take you on a journey with Mary through the Gospels, St. Paul’s letters, and the book of Revelation. Then, you’ll see Mary revealed through the liturgical use of Old Testament texts and 46 Masses honoring the mother of Jesus.

You will follow the development of Marian theology, seeing how the earliest Christians testify to her role and her gifts of grace: her virginity, sinlessness, role as God-bearer (Theotokos), and Assumption into heaven. Their sermons, essays, and defense of her person form the living tradition of the Church.

You will explore the four Marian dogmas in the light of the Incarnation and learn how the church makes Mary known through the Scriptures, the liturgy, and devotions.

    Summer Survey: July 2017

Fr. Bertrand Buby essentially focuses on Mary but in doing so takes you on a wonderful journey through scripture, the Church fathers and tradition. He brings Mary alive. He’s also not afraid to raise questions about the authenticity of certain beliefs.
