Prof. Carol J. Dempsey, O.P., Ph.D.
Carol J. Dempsey, O.P., Ph.D., is Professor of Biblical Studies at the University of Portland, Oregon and has been a member of the Order of Preachers for 35 years. She holds a BA from Caldwell College, NJ, an MA from St. Louis University, and a Ph.D. in Biblical Studies from The Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C. Carol is the author of 5 books including Isaiah: God’s Poet of Light, Justice: A Biblical Perspective, Jeremiah: Preacher of Grace, ,Poet of Truth, The Prophets: A Liberation Critical Reading and Hope Amid the Ruins: The Ethics of Israel’s Prophets. The former Vice President of the National College Theology Society, Carol has published numerous articles in the area of prophets, biblical theology, ecology, biblical ethics and gender studies in scholarly journals as well as in scholarly books of collected essays. She has delivered more than 50 scholarly papers at national and international professional conferences, and has been invited to lecture nationally and internationally for various colleges, universities, and other groups.
