No doctrine is so central to Christianity as that of the triune God, and yet it remains among the most misunderstood aspects of the faith. For many, such a daunting topic can seem abstract and disconnected from the human experience of God.
This 12-lecture course answers your most burning questions about the holy mystery of God. With enlightening and incisive insights, Fr. John Randall Sachs, S.J., explores what it means to believe in the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. A professor at Boston College’s School of Theology and Ministry, Fr. Sachs makes the complex concepts he teaches graduate students easy to understand for those without a theology background.
Throughout the lectures, Fr. Sachs interweaves the works of great thinkers like Karl Rahner with profound reflections on the human search for God. In doing so, he helps you see the significance of topics like the Trinity and salvation in theology as well as your spiritual life. As you progress through the course, you will learn about topics like the early Church’s teaching about the Creator, its foundation in scripture, and its relations

I listened to Professor Sach’s lecture 3 times back to back since his presentation of God as the Trinity was so powerful, enlightening and clear. I felt excited as I came to know the Creator, Jesus and the often neglected Holy Spirit in a deeper way. Our Christian faith is TRINITARIAN and this course is fundamental to understanding what that means as followers of Christ.

Fr. Sachs has done a wonderful job!
I found the clarity, depth and range of thought about God, Church and spiritual life challenging and compelling. Fr. Sachs has done a wonderful job of sharing a lifetime of thinking and teaching experience. I’ve listened to this CD in part and in whole multiple times.

Worth Listening to Again and Again
Father John’s lectures on our Trinitarian faith are worth listening to over and over again. The lectures combine an overview of the debates involved in the development of the doctrine of the Trinity with an examination of our understanding of each of the persons of the Trinity, plus an introduction to Ignatian spirituality to foster a dynamic prayer live based on this Trinitarian understanding. Fr. John’s delivery is extremely engaging, making even the most academic points lively and meaningful.

Winter Survey: January 2017
I’ve listened to it 5 or 6 times and each time finding new understanding. It is such a comprehensive reflection on liturgy, scripture, theology, spirituality, prayer, and community and has been a great resource for me in my work with an RCIA program.

Spring Survey: April 2017
Fr. Sachs provides a clear, sweeping, and inspirational overview of how theologians and scripture scholars are dealing with the questions of God and faith in the modern era. He covers both core teachings and cutting edge explorations regarding different faith traditions. I’ve listened to it several times over the past couple of years, each time finding new insights and encouragement.

5 star offering
This is a sterling offering and I highly recommend it! I would like to point out that the first disc in this 5 CD set had some gems about Wisdom literature. “She is the breath of the power of God and a spotless image of his goodness. She knows all things and in every generation she passes into Holy souls and makes them friends of God and prophets.”
Fr Sachs is an engaging presenter and scholar and our God is so real in the Father,Son and Holy Spirit! “The Lord our God is One.”
I’ve listened to this many times as it is a treasure.
